The Orange Police Department serves the community 24/7 with 43 sworn officers and 12 civilian employees. Chief RobertMore Gagne oversees the men and women of the department, with Assistant Chief Edward Koether.</p> <p>Orange police officers are the town's first responders and are trained Medical Response Technicians (MRTs) or Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).</p> <p>The Orange police run an annual Citizen's Police Academy to educate residents on the behind-the-scenes workings of the department. Its members also work with the Woodbridge Police on Drunken Driving checkpoints and other regional law enforcement community assignments.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p>

The Highway Department is overseen by Crew Chief Donald Foyer. There are two foremen, two highly trained mechanics, fourMore heavy equipment operators, and three all-around workers. The men say the backbone of the operation is Administrative Assistant Liz Mullin, who keeps everything running smoothly. The Highway Department is busy year-round with roadside mowing, clearing leaves and snow plowing all part of the job description. The team also helps prepare for many town events, including putting up fencing for the Orange Country Fair, stringing lights on the town tree for the holiday festival and placing barricades and signs up for parades. The mechanics service all town vehicles, including police cruisers, fire trucks, park and recreation trucks and its own equipment.
