Holiday Festival Today

This year's Holiday Festival includes the dedication of the new Town Tree on the Orange Green.

 

It's December, the air is crisp, Christmas decorations are popping up everywhere around town: It must be time for the annual Holiday Festival!

The Special Events Committee has many activities planned for this year's event, which begins at 3 p.m. in the center of town and concludes at 6 p.m. with Santa's arrival.

There are several different venues to visit in order to thoroughly enjoy the festival. Snacks compliments of the Orange Special Events Committee.

The Clark Building

• Throughout the Festival watch as a master ice carver from Ice Matters tranforms blocks of ice into an awe inspiring holiday shape. Each year it is something different. Don't miss it!

• From 3 to 5 p.m. — See all the Gingerbread contest displays

All entries must be picked up between 5:30 and 6 p.m.

At the Case Memorial Library:

• Mail your letters to Santa at the Main Floor Circulation Desk

• From 3 to 5 p.m. — Children's Crafts in the second floor craft room

• From 3 to 4 p.m. — Phi Fusion in the second floor meeting room

• Sometime between 3 and 4 p.m. — The Amity Chamber Singers will perform on the balcony.

• At 4 p.m. — Storytime with Vicki Grande in the Children's Library

At the Stone-Otis House

• From 3 to 5 p.m. — Tour the 1800s home, decorated in Victorian Style by the Historical Society. Absolutely charming.

• Strolling Yuletide Carolers on the front lawn from 3 to 5:30 p.m.

The Academy Building

• From 3 to 5 p.m. Visit the Historical Society's Antique Collections and one-room schoolhouse on the main floor.

• In the lower level, see the Model Railroad of the Orange to Derby Line.

Orange Congregational Church

• From 4 to 5 p.m. — Bell Choir and Hymns

Town Green

• At 5:30 p.m. the newly planted Christmas Tree will be dedicated to the memory of Frankie Filardo, grandson of Ann and Fred Trotta, who died of leukemia when he was in Jr. High School.

• The tree will be lit after the dedication.

• Santa will arrive by firetruck at 5:45 p.m.
