Celebrating Easter Lions' Style

"We Serve" is the Lion's Club Motto: Residents agree: they sure do.

For 50 years the Orange Lion's Club has been treating local children to an Easter Egg Hunt at .

This year's chairman Nick Bencivengo seemed to thoroughly enjoy watching the result of his hard work go off without any major complications, well, the Easter Bunny was a couple of minutes late.

Children and parents formed a long line to the gazebo at least 20 minutes before his scheduled arrival, but Officer John Aquino who was bringing the bunny to the fairgrounds ran into traffic and when he finally pulled in, the children were ecstatic.

A crew of "seeders" entered the roped off hunt area and began to throw foil covered candy into the grass.

Lion Bob Drobish called for the pre-school and kindergarten to step into the ring, but before he could do the countdown, the children rushed onto the field an began their hunt.

When they were done filling their baskets and bags the kids and thier parents rifled through the treats looking for a smiley sticker or star indicating a prize winning candy.

Under the pavilion, Lions were waiting to pass out special toys to children with the special candies.

Smiley stickers meant the child won a gift certificate to .

After each age group completed their hunt, many children made their way back to the gazebo for another visit to the Easter Bunny. Every child received an Easter themed PEZ dispenser and as they exited, Officer Aquino handed each child a pencil.

"It was a great day for an Easter Egg Hunt," Drobish said.
