Amity Graduation: 'We're Just Praying for Good Weather'

Good weather means that more people can come celebrate Amity graduates' big day on Friday.

Everyone's hoping for sunshine on Friday — and not because it will be a cool kick off to the weekend.

With the weather forcing Amity High School's graduation indoors the past few years, the idea of holding the momentous occasion outside is so appealing.

"We're just praying for good weather," says Monica Kreuzer, assistant principal at Amity.

Importantly, too, good weather means that more people can come celebrate the graduates' big day. If the ceremony is outside on the athletic field, there's truly no limit on who can come, Kreuzer says.

However, if weather forces the graduation indoors, each student is limited to a total of six tickets. Two are for admittance to where the ceremony will be held, and four will provide access to the auditorium and classrooms where screens will simulcast the event.

The graduation starts at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 21, at the Woodbridge campus, 25 Newtown Road.

The two student speakers will be:

  • Brandon Gowisnock, of Bethany, Outstanding Achievement Extra-Curricular
  • Ang Shi, of Woodbridge, Outstanding Achievement Academic
Gowisnock and Shi are two among about 385 seniors who will be donning the caps and gowns on Friday.
