Racebrook Students Learn to Recycle

Single stream recycling is easy.

Orange School District is committed to educating students on the benefits of recycling, both in curriculum and by example. “It starts with educating our students,” said Superintendent Lynn McMullin, “the students need to see recycling in action and go home and teach their families.” This new recycling bin makes it easier to recycle, especially at school-sponsored, family functions."

“As landfill charges continue to rise, the town will save money by maximizing the material we reuse and recycle," added Tom George, Chairman of the Orange Recycling Committee. “It is truly gratifying to see the schools embrace our efforts in recycling.”

Single-stream recycling is relatively easy for a family to undertake.  All recyclable materials go into one bin, and there’s no need to sort recyclables.  All families need to do is educate themselves as to what can and cannot be recycled.

Currently the Town of Orange is at a low percentage for recycling. We need to work together to increase that percentage. For more information go to the Town of Orange website and click on the link to the Orange Recycling Committee.
