Orange Board of Ed Reaches Out

Due to the response from the public requesting to be involved in the Superintendent search for the Orange Public Schools, The Orange Board of Education will conduct a forum to help facilitate the selection process.

On June 23, the Orange Board of Education (BOE) will conduct a forum consisting of six members including, one representative from the Teachers’ Union, and one representative from the Administrators’ Union, one PTA member and three “at-large” members. 

This Forum will review and question the three or four remaining applicants for the position of Superintendent of the Orange School System.  Each participant will be required to compose and present well thought out questions and provide the Board of Education Personnel Committee a detailed analysis of their thoughts on each candidate based upon the Forum responses.  Each candidate will tentatively be slated for a 45-60 minute session.

The PTA boards have been asked to work collaboratively and select one person who will best represent the PTA/PTOs of Orange. That one person will be the PTA/PTO representative at this Forum.

Three “At Large” members will be selected by the BOE via lottery.  This could be any parent, PTA/PTO representative or any other resident of the town of Orange who wishes to participate. Having a child in the school system is not a prerequisite. Three members will be selected from the group of applicants. 

The chance of receiving an “At-Large” bid is predicated on the number of requests received.  All “At Large” applications should be submitted via letter or other correspondence indicating a desire to be involved in the process of selecting the next Superintendent and an affirmation indicating their agreement to provide their detailed analysis of their thoughts on each candidate based upon the Forum responses within the time allotted. 

“At-Large” consideration requests must be submitted by 4 p.m., Wednesday June 8. No consideration will be given to any requests after 4 p.m.  No exceptions.  A final selection will be complete after the June 13 BOE meeting.
