Amity Spartans crush Wilbur Cross Governors 42-16

Amity won its away game at Wilbur Cross High School on Friday.

The Spartans went up against the Governors at Wilbur Cross High School Friday afternoon and played a great game of Football.

Sophomore Cory Ricks (3) brushed past the Governor's defensive line and scored a touchdown.

Governors Fullback Marlon Pastor (36) was injured and down on the field for a couple of minutes, but walked back to the bench on his own.

The halftime show consisted of about two dozen Canada Geese that strolled onto the field after the players left and flew away just before the second half began.

Another Wilbur Cross player was hurt, but was able to exit the field on his own, and then Spartans Captain Tyler Vallie (9) made a touchdown. Forget the Superbowl Shuffle, Vallie's footwork on the other side of the goal line was equally impressive.

Then it was Junior David Attolino's (34) turn to score for Amity, followed by a great play by Junior James Semmonella (7) who brought the score to 42-0.

The Spartans were on a roll until the third quarter when linebacker Skye Zawadski (60) was hurt and while the medics were assessing his leg injury, the Governors had a chance to get a second wind.

Moments after players Nicholas Tudino and Robert Esposito helped Zawadski walk off the field, the Governors' senior Romaine White (21) scored their first touchdown.

In the fourth quarter Wilbur Cross scored another touchdown, but it wasn't enough to catch up to the Spartans.
