Amity Drama Department Takes on Ambitious Fund-raising Plans

The Amity High School Theater Department under the direction of Robert Kennedy was selected to perform in the world’s largest and most prestigious arts festival in the world The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. 

Each August, Edinburgh, Scotland becomes the most magical and exciting place on earth as performing artists from all over the world come to Scotland to take part in the Festival. 

Amity High School, long recognized for its entertaining and innovative productions, was selected by the festival to represent the United States as part of the 2012 American High School Theater Festival program. Amity was one of 50 schools chosen from more than 2,000 nominated applicants.

The Amity High School drama students, their parents, and teachers are heavily involved in fund-raising activities to finance the two-week adventure in Scotland and England. 

The drama club will be on a year-long fund raising drive with many planned events including a program where the community can sponsor a seat in the auditorium complete with an engraved name plaque.

The first fundraiser:  The "Anything and Everything Goes Estate Sale" will take place on Saturday Nov. 19 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Amity High School Auditorium.   

The fund-raiser will kick off with a paid entry hors d'oeuvres preview sale event on Friday Nov. 18 from 6 to 9 p.m.  The drama club is fundraising in order to send its students to the Edinburgh Fringe Theater Festival in Scotland in 2012.  All proceeds from the sale will benefit those students. 

The huge estate sale will have an incredible amount of items for sale including clothing, furniture, jewelry, kitchenware, toys, exercise & sports equipment and so much more!  All of the action will take place indoors, right on the Amity stage.
