As of about 5 p.m., 293 votes had been cast, according to Poll Moderator Al Pol. At that pace, he said, the town is set to break last year's turnout. A 20-year veteran poll worker, Pol expects that more voters will show up as folks get out of work.

"I've been posting on my Facebook page telling people to get their butts down here," said Lexi Crocco, the tabulator official.

"Generally it does pick up from 5 to 8 p.m.," Pol said.

Pol said his guess is that the budget will pass. But, he added, "You really don't know."

Kevin McNabola hopes it passes. The former chairman of the Board of Finance who now is the business manager of Orange Public Schools said, "There's a lot of school buildings and town buildings and curriculum and education that need to be funded."

The poll will remain open until 8 p.m. Orange Patch will report the results as soon as they're available.
