Notes in a nutshell: Board of Selectmen
Notes from Board of Selectmen's Meeting held Wednesday June 8
On Wednesday, June 8, a public hearing to discuss the future of animal control services in town took place during the Board of Selectmen's meeting at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.
After opening the meeting and hearing from the public, which is in the videotape, the board members discussed the issues around leaving DAC and joining Milford.
- The cost for Milford would be less than DAC
- Dac is now in the process of changing control to the Woodbridge Police Department and it is unclear how the services might change.
- Milford has a defined program and budget. We know up front what services would be provided and the cost of the services.
- Bethany is also looking into alternatives to DAC which, if they left, could change the costs to Orange.
- With the Milford proposal, Orange would still have an option to get out of the contract with 6 months notice. If the services did not meet the towns needs, Orange is not locked in until the completion of the contract.
- Milford will respond to calls 24/7 for dog bites, accidents, arrests or any other urgent need in Orange.
