I-95 Bridge Project Starts Monday Near Exits 44 & 45
A project to replace a bridge and combine the Exit 44 and 45 intersections on I-95 is scheduled to start on Monday, Feb. 17, and initially take place at night.
Part of the construction project will replace the Exit 44 and 45 interchanges with a single interchange. The first phase will be done at night, but expect daytime lane closures later on.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of a major bridge replacement project on Interstate 95 over the West River between Interchange 44 and 45, Kimberly Avenue and Ella T. Grasso Boulevard (Route 10) in the towns of New Haven and West Haven. The work is scheduled to start on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, and, for the initial phase, will be done at night and will require lane closures.
The new structure will be wider to accommodate wider shoulders and median and includes three 12-foot lanes in each direction with a 14-foot acceleration lane in the southbound direction.
I-95 will also be reconstructed from just east of the Metro-North Railroad overpass to the Long Wharf Extension overpass with a single diamond interchange replacing the current Interchanges 44 and 45 at Kimberly Avenue and Ella T. Grasso Boulevard (Route 10).

Route 10 will be extended to intersect with Kimberly Avenue to provide access to the southern portion of West Haven as part of the interchange reconfiguration.
DOT Project No. 0092-0522 was awarded on Nov. 12, 2013 to The Middlesex Corporation of Littleton, MA, at a cost of $129,773,454.00 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2018. This is Bridge No. 00163A.
