Fasano to Hold Session on Cord Blood Banking

State Senator hopes to establish CT's first public cord blood bank.

State Senator Len Fasano (R-34) will be holding a public session tomorrow to discuss efforts to create Connecticut's first public cord blood bank.

Two years ago, Fasano introduced legislation requiring doctors to inform pregnant women about options pertaining to cord blood banking, and has recently been spearheading a Cord Blood Task Force comprised of chairs and ranking members of the Public Health Committee and the Kacey Rose Foundation, a cord blood donation awareness group.

The proposed public cord blood bank would be a free and accessible source for CT residents in need of stem cell transplants, the Senator stated.
