Campaign Notebook: Opponents Use McMahon for Contributions

News and updates from the campaign trail in Connecticut.

Senate

Christopher Shays (R), U.S Rep. Chris Murphy (D) and Susan Bysiewicz (D) have all used Republican Linda McMahon's image to garner campaign contributions, reports NECN. They have sent out e-mails to supporters criticizing the WWE and McMahon's stancon on women's health issues, among other things.

Third District

Rosa DeLauro (D): Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro released a statement claiming that the newly proposed bill for the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education departments' funding would slash budgets by $6.8 billion. Since the Majority did not hold a public full committee debate on the bill, DeLauro fears the cuts may go unnoticed or unchanged.

"We should have had a full committee discussion about this bill this week and given ore of my colleagues a chance to voice their opinion on this bill and an opportunity to try and improve it. The cuts to critical programs covering family planning, economic security, mental health, women's health care and education--just to name a very few--are really just reckless and ought to be aired in public, not left to fester behind closed doors," she said.
