Video: What Happened on Ridge and Meetinghouse?

Police and a hurricane emergency strike team responded to a report of a tree down on Ridge Road at Meetinghouse Lane around 5:43 a.m. Aug. 28.

While Hurricane Irene seemed like much ado about nothing for some, but for many others who lost power she has been a major inconvenience.

The town assembled several emergency response teams, each consisting of a police officer, firefighters and public works employees, who were dispatched to calls within a certain radius of their command posts.

The plan worked well, with one person manning the radio in the event of an emergency while the others tried to catch a cat nap during the nearly 18 hour shift.
