Two New Haven Men Charged in Burglary Case

Police arrested two men shortly after an early morning commercial burglary today.

Today, (April 29) at about 2:32 a.m. the Orange police received a report of a white vehicle stopped with its lights off and the sound of glass breaking in the “Rte 34 Fuel” gas station lot at 217 Derby Ave.

Officer Kosh responded and found the glass front door had been broken. Sgt. Scott also responded to the area and located a vehicle matching the description travelling Westbound on Derby Ave. near the area and stopped the vehicle.

Investigating officers were able to identify the vehicle as the one parked in the lot. Officers were ultimately able to ascertain that the two occupants of this vehicle were the suspects responsible for the burglary and they were both placed under arrest.

Police said the vehicle contained bolt cutters which were later determined to have been used to break the glass.

Jason Wilfong, 34, of 251 Columbus Ave., New Haven and Donnell Bay, 31 of 127 Portsea St., New Haven both were arrested.

Wilfong was charged with conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, possession of burglar tools and  second-degree criminal mischief .

He was held on a $25,000 bond pending appearance at Derby Superior Court on this date.

Bay was charged with conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary.

He was found to have an active arrest warrant out of the New Haven Police Department for threatening and harassment charges.

Bay was released on a promise to appear in court on the Orange charges and is being turned over to New Haven Police to serve that warrant.
