Sisters Rule for Amity Girls Tennis

Tennis coach lauds Bayla and Dina Weick

It is clear that the success of the Amity Girls Tennis team is due in large part to the success of sisters Bayla and Dina Weick.

“Bayla and Dina have really boosted the caliber of our team,” said coach Harold Freedman. “ They are very skilled and determined young women.”

Senior tri-captain Bayla Weick pairs with tri-captain Alisha Roopchand to give Amity a decisive edge at #1 doubles.

Freedman said, “This is their third year as a team and their experience really shows. They make the right shot almost all the time. Fundamentally, they’re very sound.”

Bayla and Alisha were voted the #1 doubles team in the S.C.C. with an unblemished 11-0 record. Bayla’s little sister Dina is a sophomore and is also undefeated in league play. She holds down the #2 singles position and has an overall record of 14-1.

“Dina is really a force out there with her powerful groundstrokes and strong net play," Freedman said. "She pressures her opponents with aggressive approach shots and angled volleys.”

As Amity enters the S.C.C. and C.I.A.C. tournaments it is clear that the Weick sisters will play a major role in how the team fares.
