Second Arrest Made in Sept. 10 Bank Robbery

Police arrested a West Haven man on Wednesday in connection with the Sept. 10 robbery at People's Bank.

In reference to the initial releases sent out on the Sept. 10, People’s Bank Robbery, a second suspect was charged on Wednesday Oct. 5.

Police said Anthony Meizies 30, of 186 York St. 1st Floor, West Haven was brought to Derby Superior Court Wednesday on a habeus from New Haven Correctional to be served with the warrant in this case.

Meizies was served with the warrant and charged with first-degree robbery and third-degree larceny.

He was arraigned and held on a $150,000.00 bond.

Sept. 23: The New Haven Police Department has released the attached press release concerning a bank robbery in their city early September.

There was a collaborative effort between New Haven, West Haven and our Department due to similarities to the People’s Bank Robbery on September 10, 2011 in Orange.

As a result of the investigation, New Haven Police made an arrest today in their robbery and members of the Investigative Services Unit of Orange Police were able to secure an arrest warrant in the Orange robbery.

A warrant has been issued by the Derby Superior Court for an Anthony Meizies, date of birth Feb. 8, 1971 in the Orange case. Meizies is being held on bond on New Haven’s charges and Orange will serve their warrant in the near future.

Sept. 28: On Wednesday afternoon, September  28, 2011, the Orange Police Department made one arrest in connection with a previous bank robbery which occurred at the People’s Bank branch inside of Stop & Shop (259 Bull Hill Lane) on September 10, 2011.  

Arrested was: John Finnell, 53, of 136 Collis Street  West Haven.Charges: Conspiracy to Commit Robbery 1st, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3rd. Finnell was held on $100,000 bond and was arraigned on Sept. 29, in Derby Superior Court.  

This arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Orange Police Department, working in conjunction with the New Haven and West Haven Police Departments.  The investigation is continuing and an additional arrest is expected.
