RED FLAG: Fire Weather Warning

Use extra precautions today when discarding cigarettes, and remember open burning is not allowed in the town of Orange.

The National Weather Service, this morning, issued an urgent fire weather message. A red flag warning is up.

Conditions are favorable for rapid spread of brush fires from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. today.

Strong Northwest to West winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts of 25-30 mph will reinforce dry air in place, and relative humidity below 30% will create critical fire weather conditions.

With no rain during the past 3 days, the ground has rapidly dried and the conditions will aid in the rapid spread of brush fires if any develop.

Do not throw cigarette butts from car windows, use an ash tray.
