Police: West Haven Man Damaged Surveyor's Equipment

The 66-year-old man was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.


A 66-year-old West Haven man is scheduled to appear in court tomorrrow on charges that he stole a piece of surveying equipment in Orange.

According to a police report, Ernest Cuzzocreo turned himself in at Orange Police Department headquarters on Nov. 30 and was arrested on charges of third-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.        

Police said the warrant stemmed from an incident on Aug. 13 in which Cuzzocreo allegedly removed a machine being used by surveyors to locate underground power lines from a telephone pole and left with it. It was returned to the survey crew a short time later by another person, according to police, but it had been damaged during the removal.
