UPDATE: One Suspect in Barn Burglary in Custody

Police take one suspect into custody and continue to investigate the attempted burglary on Derby-Milford Road.

Update:

Police have released photos of one of the two suspects in the Derby-Milford Road barn burglary.

Dana Pettaway, 19, of New Haven was charged with 3rd-degree burglary, 3rd-degree Criminal Mischief, 3rd-degree Criminal Trespassing and Interfering with Police. Bond has been set at $10,000.

Police say they have one of two suspects in custody after an attempted burglarly of a barn on Derby-Milford Road in Orange, near West River Road.

According to reports, the homeowner personally chased one suspect on foot south down Derby-Milford Road, while the other took off heading north. Police recieved an anonymous tip that one suspect was running north on Orange Center Road near Old Grassy Hill.

A police search, aided by a Milford K9 unit, went underway, according the report. But police say suspects evaded capture until Assistant Chief Anthony Cuozzo, in the area, noticed the suspect near Orchard Road and took him in with the aid of officer Michael Luzzi.

Police say the investigation into the second suspect's identity continues. Patch will follow this story and provide details as they become available.
