Police News: Men Arrested at Child's Birthday Party

Police recently made the following arrests in Orange.

 

Assault at a gym

Officers were called to LA Fitness gym, 96 Boston Post Road for an assault with injury on Feb. 17 at 4:48 p.m .

According to the report, Wayne Bentley, 20, of 25 North St., West Haven was playing basketball with another man at the gym when an argument ensued.

Police said the argument continued outside the gym, where Bentley struck the victim and caused him to briefly lose consciousness.

Officers provided the victim with medical services and arrested Bentley, charging him with third-degree assault.

He was released on a promise to appear in court March 2.

 

Men fight at Chuck E. Cheese

Officers responded to the Chuck E. Cheese restaurant, 82 Boston Post Road, for a reported disturbance Feb. 19 at 6:57 p.m.

Responding officers learned that Daron Freeman, 28, of 15 Christopher Green Unit A, New Haven, and Maurice Grimes, 28, of 141 Sheffield Ave. Unit C6, New Haven were at the restaurant for a child’s birthday party, and an argument ensued between the two.

According to the report, the argument continued outside the restaurant, and the arrestees started fighting. Officers responded to the scene and took both men into custody and charged them both.

 Freeman was charged with second-degree breach of peace and released on $250 bond for court March 5.

Grimes was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. He was released on $250 bond for court March 5.

 

Shoplifter arrested

Police were dispatched to Stop & Shop, 259 Bull Hill Lane, for a reported shoplifting Feb. 18 at 6:56 p.m.

Investigation revealed that Jamie Corso, 28, of 19 William Street, West Haven had taken $189.48 worth of merchandise from the shelves, then left the store without attempting to pay.

She was stopped by store security agents and police were called.

Police said Corso was subsequently taken into custody and charged with sixth-degree larceny. She was released on a promise to appear in court March 5.
