Police: Man Threatened to Shoot Neighbor's 'Head Off'

Orange Police say the threat was made after the neighbor asked him to clean up after his dogs.

A 65-year-old Orange man was arrested May 7 for allegedly threatening to shoot his neighbor's head off after she asked him to clean up after his dogs.

Police said the alleged incident occurred a day earlier, on Aspen Lane. After the woman stopped to talk to him about cleaning up after his dogs, police said that he reportedly responded with: "Do you want me to shoot your (expletive) head off?"

The woman reported the incident to Orange Police, who found that the man, Jan Marcus, had 11 firearms registered to his name. Police obtained a warrant for his arrest charging him with second-degree breach of peace and second-degree threatening. Police also obtained search warrants for his home, at 654 Aspen Lane, and his vehicle.

On Wednesday, officers observed Marcus leave the residence in his vehicle, conducted a traffic stop, and placed him under arrest without incident. Police said Marcus was cooperative and provided officers with the location of the firearms in his residence; the weapons were confiscated.

Milford Regional Animal Control assisted with the six dogs found in the residence, police said.

Marcus was released on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court on May 21.
