A 22-year-old Orange man was arrested on multiple charges June 24 after he allegedly assaulted and threatened to kill his girlfriend.

The man, who police identified as Jake Gilfix of Grassy Hill Road, was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree strangulation, first-degree unlawful restraint, second-degree threatening, and criminal violation of a protective order. Gilfix was arrested at his residence at 1:46 p.m., police said.

"Officers learned that the arrestee and the complainant had gotten into an argument, and during this argument, the arrestee held the victim down, choked her, kicked her, then threatened to kill her," police said. "While police were investigating this incident, the arrestee was served with a restraining order which did not allow him to have contact with the victim, but he then contacted her within one hour of being served with the order."
