Police: Man Struggled with Officer at Walgreens

Police respond to the Orange business on report of a disturbance in progress.


A Bridgeport man reportedly struggled with an officer when police were arresting him during an alleged disturbance at Walgreens.

According to a report from the Orange Police Department, the man, who they identified as Nathan Smith, 57, was charged with second-degree breach of peace and interfering with an officer's investigation.

Police responded to the 54 Boston Post Road business at 2:40 p.m. on Jan. 21, according to the report.

"Officers were dispatched to the Walgreens store regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that the arrestee had been loudly arguing with employees inside the store," police said. "At one point, the arrestee began to struggle with an officer and refused to comply with commands. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged."

Police said Smith was held for a Jan. 22 court date.
