Police: Man Smashes Windows at Taco Bell

Orange police say the man was arrested before he could get to employees.

Orange police say they arrested a man moments after he allegedly broke the windows of Taco Bell in an apparent effort to get at his girlfriend.

The store was closed at the time and the doors were locked, police said. The woman who was reportedly the target of the incident works at the business, located at 89 Boston Post Road in Orange, according to police.

Taken into custody at 2:43 a.m. on Nov. 24 was Wayne Wyman Jr., 25, of West Haven. He was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal trespass, and second-degree breach of peace.

According to the police report, officers responded to the Taco Bell restaurant regarding a party trying to break in. Police said officers learned that employees were still inside the restaurant, and that the man, who they identified as Wyman, was the boyfriend of one of the workers.

He came to the restaurant after closing time and started banging on the door to be let in, but employees told him to leave, according to the report. Instead, the arrestee reportedly started banging on the front and rear doors to the restaurant with a rock, eventually breaking both. Police said officers took Wyman into custody before he could get inside the restaurant where the employees were.
