Police ID 5 Suspects in Rash of Burglaries

Police from Orange, North Branford, Hamden and New Haven are working together to crack the case.

With the identification of five suspects, police are working to bring about an end to a rash of burglaries that has hit several New Haven County towns.

A total of five suspects from New Haven have been identified with an age range between 14 and 23 — four juveniles and one adult, according to a press release issued Thursday by the Orange Police Department. Warrants have been applied for and charges are forthcoming, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing too, and police said more arrests are expected.

The investigation, which brings together officers from Orange, North Branford, Hamden, and New Haven, was launched following a rash of overnight residential burglaries, motor vehicle break-ins, and motor vehicle thefts.

In Orange, police said the criminal activity occurred in the areas of Derby Avenue, Argyle Road, Currier Drive, David Court, Pinetree Drive, and Augusta Drive. Specifically:

  • April 12: Garage burglary and a stolen Jaguar on Derby Avenue
  • April 14: Three residential burglaries, a stolen Nissan Altima, and several cars entered in the Pintree Drive, Argyle Road, Currier Drive area
  • April 17: Stolen Land Rover LR4 and cars entered on Augusta Drive

Through their investigation, police said, they have recovered three vehicles and personal property that had been stolen from residences in Orange.

"Residents are reminded to lock their houses and vehicles and not to leave valuables in vehicles," the release states.
