Orange Police: Two DUIs on Derby Avenue

Police reported both DUIs in the early hours of the same morning.

According to a release from the Orange Police Department, two motorists were arrested for driving under the influence on Derby Avenue in the early hours of Saturday, September 29.

Modesto Soto, 43, of Hamden was arrested at 12:25 a.m. after police say they were called in on a report of reckless driving. According to the report, police performed roadside sobriety tests, and Soto was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.

Just over two hours later, at 2:37 a.m., police arrested Ronald Spellman, 30, of Ansonia. Police say Spellman was "traveling at a high rate of speed and driving erratically."  After roadside sobriety tests, police say Spellman was charged with Driving Under the Influence.
