Orange Police Blotter: Oct. 18-22

Oct. 18

Joshua Gray, 28, of 151 Contact Dr, West Haven, was charged at 9 a.m. with fifth-degree larceny, third-degree burglary, credit card theft and illegal use of a credit card. Gray was held for arraignment.

Officers learned that a wanted person was appearing at the Derby Superior Court on an unrelated matter, and served an arrest warrant on him while he was there. The warrant stemmed from an incident on 7/26/13, when the arrestee broke into a vehicle and took a woman’s purse and wallet, then used her bank cards to make purchases afterward. Investigation led to the identity of the arrestee, and an arrest warrant was obtained, which was then served while he was appearing in court.

Mathew Hickman, 24, of 6 Paradise Ave, Hamden, was charged at 3:56 a.m. with possessing weapons in a motor vehicle, second-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree breach of peace. Hickman was held on $5,000 bond and his first court date is Nov. 4.

Police Report:

Officers were dispatched to the area of Marsh Hill Road to investigate a dispute. Officers learned that a group of people were traveling on I-95 near Orange when an argument ensured amongst the vehicle’s occupants. The vehicle pulled off the highway onto Marsh Hill Road, where one of the occupants was forcibly removed from the vehicle by another passenger. The vehicle then left the party stranded on Marsh Hill Road. The officers’ investigation led to the discovery of a pellet gun inside the motor vehicle; it was owned by the arrestee, who was also the person who forced the original complainant out of the vehicle.

Oct. 22

Ralph Vogt, 39, of 152 Pierce St, Torrington, was charged at 4:27 p.m. with fourth-degree larceny. Vogt's first court date is Nov. 5

Police Report: 

Officers learned that a wanted person was being held by the Torrington Police Department on an unrelated matter. He was wanted on a arrest warrant stemming from an investigation of thefts at the JoDi’s Sound Center store located at 208 Boston Post Road. The arrestee worked there prior to the investigation, when it was discovered that he was embezzling funds from the store. He was brought to Orange Police headquarters and processed for the warrant.
