A miniature donkey bit a New Canaan woman's forearm Wednesday morning as she tried to rescue the animal from a brutal attack her own two dogs had reportedly launched after they breached an invisible fence at home.

A 48-year-old Trumbull woman was arrested on animal cruelty charges after she allegedly neutered her cat. The feline survived, police said, but it did require care from a veterinarian.

A woman stashed cash in a safe deposit box at Chase Bank in Monroe for the past decade and over that time the savings rose to several hundred thousand dollars. She recently told police all of the money is missing. Due to the pending investigation, police will not say what the exact amount is.

A driver was taken into custody after he allegedly struck the rear end of a Westport police cruiser that was stopped at a red light. The officer could smell alcohol on the driver's breath and the man was not able to speak clearly, police said.

Stamford police are searching for a mystery tree crew that was reportedly removing limbs without official authorization in the area of Skyline Road when they knocked out a primary line and power to a number of residents for a brief time. The crew reportedly fled from the scene after knocking out the power.

A robbery suspect in Norwalk reportedly made off with money from the cash drawer of a delicatessen — and a substantial amount of deli meat and bread. Police said the suspect filled a black trash bag with loaves of bread and cold cuts before fleeing the scene.

While attempting to locate a car and driver that reportedly fled the scene of an accident, Brookfield police instead arrested a New Fairfield man with the bad fortune to be driving a similar car. After talking with the driver, the officer had him perform field sobriety tests, which he reportedly failed. The officer then allegedly found prescription drugs, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the car.

Following a brief pursuit both by car and foot, Fairfield and Bridgeport police detained a man who allegedly robbed and threatened to kill the clerk at a Southport convenience store.
