Orange Police say a recently reported sexual assault led to the arrest Sept. 25 of a South Carolina man.
Police said the man, Charles Whiting, 61, turned himself in a headquarters on Lambert Road after learning of a warrant for his arrest. He was charged with
- Fourth-degree sexual assault (2 counts)
- Risk of injury to a minor (2 counts)
"The warrant stemmed from incidents in the early 2000s when the arrestee was an Orange resident, and that were recently reported to police," the report states.
Police did not release additional information about the nature of the allegations or the accused's relationship to the victims.
Whiting was released after posting a $25,000 bond. He is due in court on Oct. 9.
