Furnace Malfunction at High Plains

Firefighters responded to the High Plains Community Center this morning and investigated a possible problem with a furnace.

A furnace at the High Plains Community Center malfunctioned this morning around 10:57 a.m., sending a little smoke through the building.

Firefighters responded within three minutes and detected a slight odor of smoke inside the building and requested one of the responding engines to bring along a carbon monoxide meter.

Firefighters investigated and shut down the number one boiler and cleared the scene at 11:33 a.m. when a repairman arrived.
