Firemen's Muster Today

Cheer on Your Favorite Firefighters Today in day-long event.

The tri-town volunteer fire departments will compete in the 40th annual Engine 260 Firemen's Muster at Eisenhower Park, 725 North St., in Milford today.

As is tradition, the Muster day begins with a fire engine parade from Devon's Liberty Rock Plaza (K-Mart) on Bridgeport Avenue, through the center of the city, past the Green and the Duck Pond and straight on to the park. (See schedule of events below)

The Bethany, Orange and Woodbridge Muster Teams have been practicing their skills in anticipation of competing in the following contests.

The team competitions (No apparatus required) Bucket Brigade, Water Barrel, Ladder Climb and Tug-O-War.

Apparatus events include Arena Pumping, Midnight Alarm and Lakeside Draft.

The Muster is sponsored by Engine 260, Inc. and the Southern Connecticut Antique Fire Apparatus Collectors (SCAFAC). Now in it's 40th year, the muster is one of the oldest and largest of in the region, regularly drawing over 100 antique trucks and teams each year from across the Northeast.

8 a.m. Motorcade Line Up (Liberty Rock Plaza)

8:30 a.m. Firematic Flea Market Opens


9 a.m. Motorcade starts

10 a.m. Opening Ceremony (Eisenhower Park)

10:30 a.m. Competition Begins

1 p.m. Participation Chip Collection Begins

5 p.m. Awards and Trophy Presentations
