Black Ice Danger: School Van Hits Snow Bank

A near empty school van hit a snow bank on Derby-Milford Road Monday Morning.

There were some scary moments around 9 o’clock this morning as a school van from Bridgeport slid on some black ice on Derby-Milford Road and ended up in a snow bank near the cemetery.

Early reports indicated that 10 children were on board and were being transported via another vehicle, but, a quick call to the police department clarified that one small child was on board and there was no drama.

The black ice did pose a danger, though, and responding officers learned that another vehicle also had slid into an awkward position not far down the road from this accident scene.
