Asst Police Chief is MADD Honoree

Asst. Chief Edward Koether has dedicated 22 years to the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Organization.

On Wednesday, Nov. 2, Assistant Chief Edward Koether was one of several individuals honored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) at its Community Champions Recognition Ceremony and dinner.

Awards were presented in several categories, and Assistant Chief Koether was one of three recipients of the Hilda Davis Award (MADD’s highest award).

In 1989, Koether took over supervision of the Department’s DUI enforcement and training program, and was assigned as the Department’s liaison with MADD.

Chief Robert Gagne said, "The entire Department is proud of the leadership displayed by Assistant Chief Koether in his dedicated service to the MADD organization. The Department will continue its aggressive and ongoing campaign to protect the public through DUI enforcement efforts."

He received his 15-year pin at MADD’s Law Enforcement Recognition Ceremony, and on November 2, Executive Director Janice Heggie Margolis presented Koether with MADD’s 20th year law enforcement pin for his continuous service and support to MADD for more than twenty years.

Assistant Chief Koether joined the Orange Police Department in 1981 and in 2006 was appointed to the position of Assistant Chief.
