Assault at High School and Other Police News

A 17-year-old was arrested for assault at High School.

March 30, 11:30 a.m. at a 17-year-old male student allegedly assaulted two other students then drove away from the school in his pickup truck. Police went to the student’s home where the truck was parked in the driveway, but were told the suspect was not there. Police contacted the father by phone, who said he would deliver his son to the police station.

On March 31 at 3:15 p.m. the father brought his son to Woodbridge police headquarters where he was arrested and charged with interfering with an officer, failure to appear, and two counts of 3rd degree assault. The father posted his son’s $2,500 bond and he was given an Apr. 11 court date.

PATROL OFFICERS stopped a car on Route 34 westbound after noticing it swerving within the travel lanes at 1 a.m. March 25.

According to the report, Joshua Simmons, 20, of 40 Woodbridge Ave., Ansonia, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain a proper lane.

Bond was $50 for court April 1.

 

A MERIDEN MAN surrendered himself on a warrant March 28 at 12:29 p.m.

Police said the warrant stemmed from a March 10 complaint regarding one of the workers at on Marsh Hill Road.

According to the report, James Papallo, 54, of 729 Allen Ave., was accused of shouting vulgarities and spitting on a car in which the complainant was riding.

Papallo was charged with second-degree breach of peace. He was released on a promise to appear in court April 11.
