An Accident Involving an Unmarked Police Vehicle and a Home Burglary

Police Blotter

On Apr. 8 at about 10:44 a.m. an officer and a civilian employee were travelling South on Racebrook Rd. in an unmarked police car.

The officer came to a stop behind another vehicle turning onto Whitewood Rd. While waiting for the vehicle to turn, a third vehicle also travelling South on Racebrook Rd. approached and was unable to stop behind them. The third vehicle, a Chevy minivan, struck the rear of the unmarked police car and pushed it into the vehicle in front of them. The officer and civilian reported minor injuries and were sent to St Raphael's Hospital emergency room via ambulance. The driver was cited for following too closely.

On Apr. 6 a resident on Sheffield Rd. reported a home burglary. The residence at that time was empty during the day for a period and upon returning home about 4:30 p.m. they discovered unknown subject(s) had forcibly entered the residence and taken some jewelry. A canvass of the area resulted in a report of a white male approximately 40 to 50 years old with "dirty blonde hair" seen walking in the area about 2:00 pm though it was unknown if he approached the residence. The male was wearing blue jeans, a green military type shirt and carried a bright orange backpack. Anyone who may have seen this individual or anything suspicious is asked to contact the Department at (203) 891-2130.
