Allegations Prompt Internal Investigation; Suspect Allegedly Bites WalMart Employee; Man Charged with Assaulting Female Bartender

HAMDEN – A North Branford man was arrested early last Saturday morning after he allegedly threw two glasses at a female bartender of a local pub.

Police said the woman suffered minor injuries to her head when one of the glasses struck her. The man, who police identified as Kenneth Paecht, 41, reportedly used vulgar expletives toward the bartender. She then refused to serve Paecht and that’s when he allegedly threw the glasses at her, according to police.

STRATFORD – Police have launched an internal investigation into allegations that a Stratford Police detective assaulted a resident.

The alleged incident between Det. William Jennings and David Fredericks of Chapel Street reportedly occurred on the evening of April 18 when Jennings approached Fredericks and demanded repayment for a debt.

An altercation allegedly ensued and Fredericks called police to have Jennings arrested, only to learn he was a police detective.

No charges have been filed, and police said the investigation is ongoing.

MILFORD – A Bridgeport man reportedly bit a WalMart store security employee during his attempt to flee the store with more than $600 worth of clothing, according to police.

The man, who police identified as Anthony Buros, 44, became combative with store security when approached about the alleged attempt to steal $602 worth of clothing, police said. A store employee suffered a bite mark and Buros also resisted arrest when officers arrived, police said.
