A 40-year-old West Haven man was allegedly driving under the influence when he was involved in a car accident on Derby Avenue in Orange.
Police said the man, who they identified as Norman McFarland, was arrested on a charge of DUI and failure to maintain proper lane position at 8:23 p.m. on Jan. 9.
According to the report provided by Orange police, "Officers responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Route 34. Officers had one of the involved drivers [McFarland] submit to standardized roadside sobriety tests. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged."
McFarland was released after posting a $100 bond, police said. He was scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 23.
