Obituary: Bob Crocco, 54, Lifelong Active Orange Resident

"A charismatic and outgoing guy," Crocco lost a brave battle with ALS.

Robert Joseph Crocco, 54, lost his battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease early morning on October 8th, 2012. Though he lost his battle with the disease, Bob was a fighter till the very end. He leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Diane Crocco, and their 3 children, Alexandra, Stefanie and Robert Jr.

Bob was born and raised in Orange, CT. He graduated from Amity Regional High School in 1976 and then, went on to graduate from Fordham University in 1980, with a Bachelor’s Degree in communications. He worked for the US Postal Service for 27 years, where he was promoted to Post Master of Guilford, but never had the opportunity to take on the position due to his illness.

He was known throughout his native town as a charismatic and outgoing guy. He worked hard as the town’s special events committee chairman for five years and brought the annual Summer Concerts to Orange. He was also a prominent figure of the Stew Leonard’s for Orange campaign.

Bob had many hobbies, including gardening, singing oldies karaoke, watching the Yankees and most of all, cruising. Bob was a proud Carnival Cruise VIP and loved going on vacation with his family. He wanted to be a cruise director for Carnival Cruise Lines after his retirement from the Post Office and hoped to take a cruise to Alaska and to Europe once all of the kids were out of the house.

Bob is also survived by his father John Crocco and siblings: Cynthia Spector of Branford, John Crocco Jr. (Cynthia), Andrea Duarte, and his niece Ariana Duarte, as well as, many other nieces and nephews on his wife’s side. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Anita Pagogna and father-in-law Frank Pagogna of West Haven, brother-in-law Edward Pagogna of West Haven and sister-in-laws Denise (Stephen) Rubino of West Haven and Terese (John) O’Shea of Milford. 

He was predeceased by his mother Marion P. Crocco, daughter Victoria Crocco, Aunt Mary and Uncle Freddie Cassella, and his brother-in-law David Spector. 

Bob is also remembered by other close family and many good friends. 
Calling hours will take place at the West Haven Funeral Home at the green Thursday from 3 to 8pm. On Friday morning, all are asked to meet directly at Holy Infant Church Friday at 11 o’clock for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private. Donations may be made to ALS Association, Milford Chapter, 4 Oxford Rd, Milford, 06460.
