Eleanor S. Briggs, 89, of Naples FL, and formerly of Orange and Guilford, CT, beloved wife of the late Robert Briggs, passed peacefully into eternal rest with her family by her side on Dec. 28.

Eleanor was born in New London on Oct. 22, 1923 to the late John and Mary Sherlock. Her greatest gift in life was a long beautiful love affair and marriage of more than 50 years to her late husband Robert.

Eleanor had a zest for life, enjoyed golf and was an avid bridge player. She was also a talented artist, painting impressionistic water colors.

Survivors include her son; David and wife Betty of Hamden, grand daughter Rebecca and husband Dan, and great-granddaughter, Anna Grace Ruzzo of Cheshire,  along with several neices and a nephew.

Eleanor was pre-deceased by her son, John S. Briggs, daughter, Nancy E. Briggs and sister Joan Cannon.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4 DIRECTLY in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Hamden. Interment will follow in St John's Cemetery, Wallingford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eleanor's memory to the charity of your choice.
