Music for Every Occasion

Sitting here again behind the counter at Merle's, the door is open and brown leaves fly in with the traffic of weekend shoppers. It just hit me that Halloween is days away,  the trees are growing bare by the minute.

  The Cramps play through the speakers- getting me into the Fall-time mood.  Their vintage punk/ psychobilly style makes me feel like I am in the middle of a retro monster movie, running from Frankenstein himself! In black and white...

  It's interesting how music can put you in a different place, or back to a different time. I don't know how it works but if you listen to a CD all summer long in the car, and pop it in after a few months, you go right back to the short-sleeved feeling! Music brings people who have long graduated high school right back to popping in the 8-track tape into the dashboard after cutting class. Just like the smell of Mom's apple pie, hearing that one song can take you decades back, or puts you in the mood for America's annual holidays.

  Whether it's The Cramps, the monster mash, or something completely different; some tunes just remind you of the season. That's what makes music great. And what's even better? Merle's Record Rack can bring you there!
