In the Spirit of Giving: Orange Police Supporting Domestic Violence Center

The department has set up a donation box at police headquarters that residents can help fill 24/7.

The Orange Police Department is supporting a toiletry drive for a local shelter in need of assistance this season — and they need your help!

The Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence Services runs a safe house program which provides an anonymous shelter for battered women and children. "This is the Center that will provide service to our own citizens when they are needed," police said. "The Orange Police Department is happy to support this program with this drive."

Orange Police are joining area departments in this effort, at the request of the CT Association of Women Police (CAWP).

A collection box has been placed in the lobby of Police Headquarters on Lambert Road for items donated by the public and is accessible 24/7.

Some examples of items needed are:

  • soap & body wash
  • toothbrushes & tooth paste
  • laundry detergent / household cleaners
  • deodorant
  • shampoo/conditioner
  • baby wipes & diapers
  • adult and children's over-the-counter medicines
