Traditional Irish Music Session

Join noted accordion player John Whelan and special guest Kathleen Conneely (whistle) for an evening of traditional Irish music at St. Gabriel’s Parish Hall, 26 Broadway, Milford, CT on Thursday, January 17, sponsored by the P.V. O’Donnell Comhaltas.  The session is free, starts at 7:45 pm, and all are welcome.  BYOB, refreshments served.

Kathleen first took lessons in her hometown of Bedford, England from Co. Clare whistle player Brendan Mulkere. She was also heavily influenced by her father, Michael, a well-known fiddle, accordion and tin whistle player from Errislannan, Co. Galway.  In 1992 she emigrated to Chicago, where she played with Liz Carroll and John Williams, among other Windy City musicians. Now living in Rhode Island, she has taught for Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (organizer of the All-Ireland Championships) in Dublin and Boston, at the Boston College Irish Studies Program and the Irish Arts Week in the Catskills.
