The Knights of St. Patrick on State Street in New Haven will be the location for a very special night honoring regional safety officials. Proceeds from the event will help offset the rising costs and additional expenses for the Greater New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade. The night will start at 5:30 pm and include open bar and hors d'oeuvres. Suggested donation is $25 per person. Unfortunately, the person who has it doesn't usually know until they are in liver failure. This disease killed my friend's daughter at the age of 6 - and they never knew until it was too late. My personal feeling is if there is a way to non-invasively test for these types of illnesses - no matter how rare - it should be done.
