Join button accordion maestro John Whelan and local musicians and friends for a Christmas family holiday event of traditional Irish music sponsored by the P.V. O’Donnell Comhaltas. Guests include young musicians Lindsay (concertina) and Sarah (fiddle) Buteux from Rockland County, New York. Their father, Chris Buteux, will accompany them on guitar. Sarah is the current under-18 All-Ireland fiddle champion. She won first place in August 2012 at the fleadh in County Cavan, Ireland. They will also be bringing handmade soaps for purchase for Christmas gifts.  BYOB, refreshments served.

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (CCE) was founded in 1951 in Ireland to promote Irish traditional music, song, dance and language. Today there are 415 branches worldwide and up to two million people attend Comhaltas functions each year.

Contact John Whelan, (203) 430-5403, for more info.

They should also be tested for other genetic disorders, such as Wilson's disease, which causes theRead More liver to store copper, eventually leading to acute liver failure. Unfortunately, the person who has it doesn't usually know until they are in liver failure. This disease killed my friend's daughter at the age of 6 - and they never knew until it was too late. My personal feeling is if there is a way to non-invasively test for these types of illnesses - no matter how rare - it should be done.
