Foodies Paradise: Food Truck Festival, BBQ Contest and Chowder Cook Off

Tanger’s Taste & Style Weekend will be two full days of food oriented fun events, including; cooking demonstrations from local chefs, 15 to 20 of the areas hottest food trucks, live music from The Sin Sisters, The Red Hill Rockers and other local bands on the main stage, a chance to win a 3-day (2-night) all expense trip for 2 to dine with Chef Curtis Stone in Los Angeles, a Backyard Barbecue Contest on Saturday, April 27, 2013 and a Chowder Cook-off on Sunday, April 28, 2013.


Dust off those smokers and grills. Spring heats up at Tanger Outlets Westbrook with a Backyard Barbecue Contest taking place on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 10am-4pm as part of Tanger’s Taste & Style Weekend. Open to both backyard grillers and professionals, teams will compete for the best pork ribs and the best chicken wings.

Winners will not only receive bragging rights and wall plaques, but cash prizes too. Judges will be awarding first, second and third place cash prizes in both categories, comprised of the entry fees — 50% will be divided among the two first place winners, 30% will be split for the second place winners and third place will split the remaining 20%. The entry fee is $50 per team and open to the first 100 registrants. Advanced registration is required. The Chowder Cook-off will be run by Westbrook High School’s Project Graduation and all of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Project Graduation Committee. All shoreline restaurants are encouraged to enter their very best clam, seafood, corn and/or potato chowder. There is no charge for restaurants to enter the contest. Visitors can purchase a voting card on the day of the event at any tasting station throughout the shopping center. Tanger’s Taste & Style weekend is open to the public with free admission.
