Announcing The Great Give® 2013: a 36-Hour Giving Event to Benefit Greater New Haven Nonprofits

The Great Give® 2013 Begins October 2nd at 8:00am EDT; $150,000 in Matching Funds; Three Grand Prize Awards of $15,000 Each

At a special kick-off celebration at New Haven’s City Hall, The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven announced it will once again hold The Great Give® - a 36-hour online giving campaign to raise funds for local nonprofits serving Greater New Haven. The Great Give® 2013 will take place between October 2 at 8:00 am and end October 3 at 8:00 pm; up to $150,000 in matching funds will be awarded to nonprofits profiled on giveGreater.org® that serve The Community Foundation’s 20-town region in South Central Connecticut. Individual grant prizes will be awarded in $15,000, $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000 denominations; three $15,000 Grand Prizes are available to the nonprofits that secure the greatest number of individual donors, greatest number of new donors and the most money raised. “This will be the fourth community-wide giving campaign The Community Foundation has supported through its online knowledge and giving platform giveGreater.org, which was created to promote knowledge and understanding of the work of nonprofits in our region and to promote local giving,” says William W. Ginsberg, president & CEO of The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. “To date, giveGreater.org has generated $1.3 million dollars in gifts and grants for our community - much of which has happened through spirited campaigns like The Great Give.”

The community is encouraged to explore the nonprofits profiled on giveGreater.org® in anticipation of The Great Give® 2013 and to give on Oct 2-3 to help local nonprofits win thousands in grant prizes.
