There Will Be (Trunk)-or-Treating In Orange After All

The town will host a "Trunk-or-Treat" event Saturday, November 3.

Trick-or-treating may not have been on the menu for Orange Wednesday night, but a hurricane can't stop Halloween.

Using the tagline "We won't let Sandy take our candy," the town will host a Trunk-or-Treat event Saturday, November 3, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at High Plains Community Center. According to the release, all kids under 18 are invited to dress up and get free candy.

Rules:

Please arrive BEFORE 4:45 p.m. to park and set up your car in the assigned area. For the safety of the children, the area will be closed off at 4:45 p.m. Cars CANNOT enter after 4:45 p.m. or leave before 7:00 p.m. the Trunk or Treat Zone. At that point, open your trunk or hatchback, decorate it with Halloween decorations and fill it with treats. At 5:00 p.m., the kids will go from car to car showing off their costumes and collecting their treats.

The only cost to the event is the treats that you bring to give out to the kids. For more information or to sign up call 203-848-4704.

I can't beleive the great participation we got tonight. I've never given candy to so many trick or treaters in the last five years combined.

This was really an awesome event!! Every town should do this. Great for the little ones to not have to walk down long & sometimes treacherous sidewalks or long driveways, no bushes/flowers accidentally stomped on, no dogs barking at every doorbell ring. Thank you SO much to the High Plains Community Center for all the kid events you host. Every kid walking thru the rows had a smile on their face, and with Hurricane Sandy ruining Halloween (and possibly the upcoming Nor'Easter ruining the "rain date") this was truly appreciated! Tons of fun. A big thank you to all who participated, we smiled when we pulled up - lots of open trunks was quite a sight to see! THANK YOU!
