Preserving Orange History, One Document at a Time

Historic preservation grants enable Town Clerk Patrick O'Sullivan to make sure documents will be available and easily accessible to future generations.

With approval from the Board of Selectmen, Town Clerk Patrick O'Sullivan has applied for a grant that will be used to protect and preserve vital records at Town Hall.

The historic preservation grant comes from the state. In year's past, it has ranged from $2,500 to $7,000, and has been used to scan land records and maps.

This year the grant, the amount of which is based on population, would be $4,000, O'Sullivan says. That much money would enable him to preserve about 40,000 pages.
