Orange Woman Is Most Honored SCSU Diver in School's History

Amanda Burden is a finalist for the 2012 Northeast-10 Conference Woman of the Year Award.

The Southern Connecticut State University Athletic Department is already calling senior Amanda Burden of "arguably the most decorated diver in school history."

Before going to SCSU, Burden was a star diver for the Amity High School Lady Spartans girls swim team, which during its competition season last fall.

According to the SCSU Athletic Department web site, Burden has been named a finalist for the 2012 Northeast-10 Conference Woman of the Year Award.

She is a three-time recipient of the Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving Scholar Athlete Excellence Award, and a three-time pick for the league’s All-Academic team.

She was picked four times as an All-American, four times as the Northeast-10 Conference Diver of the Year, three times as the Most Outstanding Performer at the league championships, and was the 2009 Metropolitan Conference Diver of the Year.

Burden, a psychology major with a 3.76 cumulative GPA, is the winner of the athletic department’s Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award.

At Amity High School, she was selected as an All-State and All-Conference pick, and also participated in gymnastics and was an All-State performer in that sport as well.
